1. Rehearsals

if you have realised, we only had one combined rehearsal so far. therefore we are going to have rehearsals and preparation from thurs to sat. ATTENDANCE is COMPULSORY!!! pls cooperate leaders. the sec 4 are really preparing for the prelims like crazy need all of your support!

thurs: 2.30-6

fri: 1.45-6

sat: timing to be confirmed

2. as for the band ppl, we will inform you more details for the invest and things like that.. cause i cant make the decisions.

3. all roles to be done latest by fri. show me all your work for ppl involved.

4. performance ic

all to include your performance songs and burn it in a disc. this must be done latest by fri!

i understand that fri is like a half day but for this once we shall use it wisely okay! if you do not know i heard many ppl sacrificing their leisure to just come for the rehearsal. sec 4 took this time off when some are having prelims while others preparing for prelims and O's. so if we can do it, all of you can. and ppl have to sacrificed their beauty sleep so.. MUST COME.

The areas that were worked on for INNowits Project 2009 are:

· e-Twinning with other countries

The INNowits Protocal:

(Re) Perceive à Ideateà Evaluate à Prototype à Access (and back to (Re) Percieve again)

**So it is like a cycle.

(Re) Perceive is to take photos, videos or take down notes to plan your project well. Councillors please be in good terms with your group members. Only then, you can make your project a success.

To ideate, is to brainstorm some ideas AS A GROUP. Then, we have to sieve out the best few ideas. In order to do that, we have to use the Idea Evaluation Grid to evaluate it. I will be showing you guys the Idea Evaluation Grid later on.

Prototype is to try out the idea to see if it works. For example, you can try out your idea on one person or at a specific location first. Then, you can carry out surveys to find out how others’ feel about your idea and to look into ways to improve your idea and to see how effective your ideas are too.

Then, you have to access the results. If it is feasible, then you can implement it in a larger scale. If it is not, then we have to go back to (Re)-perceive again.

Hello people! I would like to thank Deena for organizing the BBQ yesterday, I guess all of us had a great time there right? Hello Leaders! This message is from Wanying. This is for the Sentosa outing on 29 December.

AMK, Bishan, Lorong Chuan, Serangoon, Potong Pasir, Boon Keng, Farrer Park, Little India, Dhoby Ghaut, Clarke Quay, Chinatown, Outram Park, Harbour Front. This is the route we are taking.

For people meeting at Ang Mo Kio MRT, please be there latest by 8:30am. For others, estimate the time taken from Ang Mo Kio to the place you are. BUT DON'T BE LATE. It will be better if we meet at interchange like Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Serangoon, Habour Front. OR, let's just all meet at Ang Mo Kio! Taking circle line, then purple one, look up there for the route. Estimate to reach Habour Front by 9.20am. Have till 10.25am to buy snacks at giant at Vivo.

Taking Skytrain to beach station, then tramp to Siloso Beach. Most probably only going to Siloso becuase like that the cost not much. Must complete washing and packing up latest by 2.50pm. Go back to Vivo. Take bus 61 from Vivo, can straight away go to np. Anyone know where is the bus stop? Must bring at least $13, $3 for entrance, $10 for snacks, but dont think will spend that much, gonna spilt cost evenly.

Extra clothings, even if you not planning to play in the water. Like, wear casually to beach, then change to something more suitable for the dinner. Eline, say she will be bringing tent for us to put our bags in for safety reasons. Khairi will be bringing mats for us to sit and eat more comfortably. But in case, there's is alot of people, can someone bring mat too?

Unless, you all don't mind sitting on the sand, since we are changing out of the clothes. Those that are not going to the dinner join us too! Relax for a day, school starting soon. Those that are going ylc only, we can meet you at np and go in together. Please tell me if you are going to only sentosa only, ylc only, both, or none, LATEST by 15 December 2009, next, next Tuesday, or else I treat it as you are not going to both. Sorry, if I sound rude, I just wanna know the attendence.

Ok, we have a message from Wanying. Please reply her if you're reading this. She's turning mad asking people around. And she's coordinating for 3 things: Karaoke, Sentosa & YLC. Coorporation is a must.

We are having a karaoke session on 7th December 2009. Don't worry, it's not the aunty aunty type. It was initally for cheer people, but now it's open to the whole of council. Please attend. We want to hear you sing.

DETAILS!

We'll be going to the K-Box branch near Central Stage. Meeting time will in AMK MRT Station at 1.45pm. Don't be late. People who are 5 mins late will be imposed of a $0.50 charge for the Council funds.

Bring at least $14.50 so that it's just nice for the K-Box Student Package. Bring extra money if you think that you're going to be late and if you want to have lunch or something, and anything before or after that.

We'll be singing from 2pm to 7pm. Trust me, 5 hours is not enough. Water is essential, voices are heavenly.

Bring your CEPAS or Ez-Link Card because IC's are not accepted, if you want the Student Package. The Student Package includes a side dish, a snack and a cup of drink for each of us.

Lastly, for those who are going, please inform Wanying by this Friday, 3rd December, through her cell phone or the tag board. Her number won't be put up for safety reasons. If there's a will to get her number, then there's a way of getting it.

A new term is beginning soon and it is the last term of the year. So end-of-year exams are coming very soon, which means we got to work very hard leaders. Please do not think I am saying this after seeing the result slips. I still haven’t look at them yet. Haha. I know that some of us work extremely hard but still don’t produce the results we want. Please don’t get demoralized. I believe that effort pays off always. So if you put in the effort, even if you are not the cream of the crop you will be somewhere there. Some of us, may be too hardworking. I don’t know what I mean by that. Haha. But we can consider changing our studying style, maybe we should study smart instead of study hard. Make sense? Anyway, this is quite random. Hahaha. We must strive for good results, ok? See you guys on Monday. Had a rough patch at the debrief…
A little lecturing here and there… you know… we learn from mistakes… that’s where the experience comes from!

Oh yeah. Please do not see Eline as a ‘devil’ or even any exco members. Yes I know sometimes you have really put in a lot of effort and the desired outcome is what it is… It isn’t really what it seems. (Okay I know this sounds a little confusing)
Let me give you a metaphor, your computer is spoilt… you keep checking your desktop but everything seems to be fine. However, the cause of the problem is actually the computer hardware itself. (And you are unaware of it!)
Ok… if you still don’t get it, what I’m trying to say is… though you have did a good job, there may be some cog up’s somewhere and your seniors (in this case most probably your excos’ and eline bla bla~) is doing the ‘behind the scenes’ work. So yeah… not saying that your work is sloppy but, please don’t blame them. In time to come you’ll understand 
Wait, that actually saves me the bullcrap metaphor… shit… What a waste of time.

Lastly, after hearing what eline said this morning, I realized that I have not been helping Khari (shit… I forgot how to spell… sorry … [insert right spelling of name here]) ok.. Seriously.. See.. This is what I mean by ‘behind the scenes’. That dude didn’t even complain about the work! Top it off… he is fasting and (okay this might sound like an excuse but,) he had 8 tests in a week! Really… hats off to him.
Just want to apologize for not initiating help and yeah… so well… it’s a lesson learnt and yeah…

Anyway, tomorrow is finally teacher's Day Celebration! The hard work will finally bear fruit for the school to see! We would not be able to get our job done if it wasn't for everyone. I would really like to thank Sean, Wanying, Donavon and the rest of the deco team for their behind the scene work. They almost broke their backs doing the banner. I would like to thank Michelle for sitting in aa chair for hours without moving while doing the invitations. Deena for the Quiz slides and wrapping of gifts. NOT TO FORGET Khairi for the proposal, he was practically re-writting the proposal everyday due to the constant changes. Amanda who tried her best to contribute and plan this despite falling sick, and lastly our P and Vp for holding the team together.

There are a lot more people to thank. But it will take me ages to thank them all. So good job everyone!

This is my very first post. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for helping with the preparations. Your efforts are much appreciated. Special thanks to SEAN and WANYING for making such a wonderful banner in such a short time. SPECIAL SPECIAL thanks to MICHELLE CHENG for writing on all the invitation cards! Special thanks to KHAIRI who was very silently doing his proposal late nights. Million thanks to him, all the other EXCOs and councillors who helped out. your committee list is out. will be announcing it next week. work hard. your respective excos will be contacting you soon as well.

we will be holding a council meet during holidays. ALL leaders are to report to your EXCOs when you are free! :) by next fri possible? EXCO!!!!! sorry but report to me or kasturi again on details! so sorry. most probably there will be games, problem solving sessions and little workshops, meeting! really do hope everyone will be there because it will be a great time to bond!

4. Lost items.
if anyone of you had lost tie, tie pins or your badge, pls come and tell us. we are not unreasonable, not scary. so no need scared of us screaming and shouting... we are STILL angels.. i mean i believe ppl got their blur times and careless time. HUMAN MAKES MISTAKES.

anyone hasnt pay? i own up! myself too. next week yeah?

hello leaders...Winarti here...ur ex-vp..sorry, now den post as i was ( and still am) ultra busy with some personal stuffs...

Firstly, would like to thank all leaders who have put in their very best efforts in organising the farewell.i cried when i hugged mdm ezreen!!! cant believe it...hey..wen shan, ilin, and yoke huei..hahahs...next time dun choose the same table with me coz i will complain a lot and will give u guys as many jobs to as possible..learnt ur lessons now???? hahahahs.. anyway, thx so much for providing an excellent service on 070809...TO ALL LEADERS in SC, DO bring this council to greater heights...please respect and support your preseidents as it is NOT EASY to be in that position.

Secondly, would like to thank all the sec 4s for all their contributions to this council. Esp DARYLENE as she was the one who always give me support. Hey dar...i still remember when we were in sec 2, you were super committed to this council and i was so slack...i remember when u informed me about meetings for indianzaar in 2007...i always said " OKAY I WILL COME"..hahahs turned out i DID NOT..hahas..guess u must had been super annoyed..i am so sorry for that. i only come to realized how this council meant to me when i was in sec 3. I would also like to thank benjamin and wen zhen for all their supports as fellow presidents...Ben, sorry of i always scream at you to wake u up...hahahs and wen zhen, sorry if u always feel left out.....Tamz and jordon for your supports and understanding...MOMO...( ai wei) GREAT CAPTAIN!!! will come back next year to tracck..:P. LASTLY...i would like to apologise to all of you if i did not meet the expectation as a VP and would like to apologise if i very strict at times and scold u people....anyway, nobody is perfect...but as VP, this journey had made me learnt a lot and made me changed to become a better person, and leader. enjoy all the workshops given by the teachers as it really helps to groom u more as a leaders so dun complain1!!...( though i did :P)...my super last advice to you...

anyways, i bet you guys should be able to guess the content that you're gonna be reading
but,
here goes.
(It's gonna be very long, be prepared)

i remembered the day, when i first stepped into deyi
the first thing that made me feel welcome was the big warm smiles on the councilors and PSL's face
their friendliness as they ushered me and my mum up
and ofcourse, how smart they looked with their ties and badges
the moment, i've made a decision, or should i say, an aim
"I want to be one of them"

One year passed, and, i did it, i was nominated by my form teacher, to be a Student Leader
(since the Councilor and PSL merged)
okay, fine, me and karen promoted ourselves to our form teacher,
but, we did get a form from her, so, we're called the nominated one
so, i went through my second camp in deyi,
A Leadership Camp, 'I m Possible' Camp in 2006 December.
That camp simply rawks, it was a great exposure in leadership, as we went through the talks, games, plannings, outings, everything.
If i hadn't remember wrongly, these people are my group mates
Sean, Angelina, Jolene, Xian Da, Nicole, and Jocelyn
Our group name was, "Ki Siao Kia"
yep, "ki siao kia'
and here goes our group cheer! it's funny

hahhahahas.

and with sean's great leadership, as well as our group's effort
we won a couple of awards too:D

2007...
Orientation came, and i was the class leader of class 101
together with jacklyn, xian da, jian feng and ai wei
it was tedious, yet, wonderful, nice, and WOW
the part that made really touched was when some of them told me that they like me the best
at that point of time, i was really glad that i took up leadership
the sense of satisfaction when you see that they enjoyed themselves, nothing can beat that.

next came my first investiture, 02 April 2007
i'm officially a Student Leader,
i made it:D

then, the indianzaar carnival with aili,
there were much conflict but, it was a success
it aint easy to be the OIC for the student council,
to give instructions to the seniors,
to plan and everything, it was tough
but i made it, thanks to all the people who supported me throughout
especially jocelyn

the next thing i realize was the farewell party for the seniors
a year past and their leaving
i dint cry that day, i wasnt that close to them
but i'll never forget that they sang birthday song for me twice
one in i-space, one opp school
i even get to cut the cake that humphrey baked together with nurul
that was, really nice

okay, think i'm getting too naggy, if i continued writing down all my experiences, you'll take hours to read them
so, i'll skip, do tell me if you're interested, hahha

being in a student council aint easy
you have to face the peer pressure from your friends
you have to bear the responsibilities and follow the rules and regulations
you have meet the extra expectations from he teachers
you have to sacrifice lots of your free time for the council
to fulfill all these
it aint easy, we all know, we have been through
but whether you guys can put it through like we did
depends on your will and mind
whether you have the strong mind to overcome all these
whether you are willing to be dedicated to the council
whether you have passion for leadership
whether you are enjoy leadership
see? it all depends on yourself.

let me tell you a tip
if you're at the edge of breaking down and you feel like quitting,
dont quit, yet
think.
think of the very first reason that made you take up leadership
think of the wonderful moments you spend with the council
think of all the fun you had
think of the satisfactions you'll receive after a successful event
think.
ofcourse, you can always look for your seniors for advices
find your inspirations before you even think of quitting
that doesnt shows that you're free
that shows how weak your mind is
be persistent or stubborn at times
you'll never realize how the outcome will surprise you

lastly, i would like to thank these few people...

Zi Xin and Chan Hong (although they already left)
for being my source of inspirations, who taught me great stuff, who gives me opportunities and inspirations, who believes in me, who never ever gives up on me. Thank you. Thank you Zi Xin, for letting me know how great leadership can be, thank you for pulling me through with all your encouragements. Thank you Chan Hong, for teaching me so much, although you dont show it, but i know, you have always been supporting me together with zixin. Though i've let both of you down, but, your teachings will always be with me, i've pull through, thank you.

dont look down on yourself, have confidence because we all know that you can do it

though i've only know you for a few months, i really see great potential in you and i really believe that you'll be able to completely take over me.

i remembered you said you're actually not willing to be in the council during alumni camp 2007, but i believe you're have totally changed your mind yea? you see, leadership is just attractive isnt it? you need to be more outspoken, infront of your juniors, dont restrict yourself, just be who you are, i know what crazy and fun you can be:D and too bad, i cant count how many plates you eat..nevermind, i'll send a spy, heheh.

for your information, none of the excos thinks you're not capable, we all see the potential in you, but sometimes, we do feel disappointed with your attitude. SO... i guess this is it. The last post by 2009 EXCOs in the SLC blog.

Like i said the other time, time flies man.

Now that we already more or less left the council, it really calls for us old birds to think about the time when we first entered council.

As for me, i am together with Eline's batch, so i can identify a lot with the sec 3s' experiences. However, most of the old birds entered the council in December 2006. Back then, i was in 108/208 and Wenzhen was one of the dudettes who entered council. I always wondered why she can get into council and i cannot( aiya thanks to the mr. derrick tan luh) and i wanted to be a part of it because it was like so fun and happening and the hip people are all there. Basically, i wanted to join council for the wrong reasons.

And then somehow in sec 2, my form teacher, mdm chen bi jun gave me a chance to enter the council, together with Alvin Laiman and Wani. However she was comtemplating because i was quite naughty and preoccupied with other things on my mind.

She gave me a chance anyway.

I bet that she had a lot on her mind the day i stepped up as President.

And now i am passing on to the crazy fellow from my batch. LOL

really lots to say but hard to describe man.

I spent 1 whole year with a trainee leader's batch and then rose up to this position. Many people have doubts(i wonder if they still do). But at least one thing i can say; I survived my term.

Throughout this journey i keep wanting to give up, the pressure, the workload, together with SYF and my studies. I felt like breaking down. But i am glad i survived to see this day. I really do. The tears and the sweat and everything i've been through here, is not wasted.

I may not be the best President, but as long as i've done my best and never gave up, i have already done my part.

And so for the new President, i hope you will take it this way as well. No matter what happens, don't give up. This includes all the EXCOs and sec 3s. Never ever give up. Once a leader, always a leader.

And even now i still want to thank my VPs and EXCOs. Since i already mentioned Winarti and Wenzhen just now, i shall talk about my team of EXCOs and members.

Darylene is a really commited leader and is probably the most experienced councillor in the board. I think i wouldn't have survived this without her. And Adeline really contributed with her team of art people. That is how we survived invest. Ian Xu is more of a reasoning person than a guy who only know how to shout,but still got room for improvement la hahas. Shamien really done a good job with the admin. She really is brilliant. Fazlindah is the person quietly supporting Darylene's heavy workload as well, so a round of applause hahas. Karen will be the super enthu and super high exco and always go crazy and kee xiao one.

Jordon tammy Alvinphua AlvinLaiman Pamela Jocelyn Syazwani Brandon Aiwei and all the rest, i thank you guys for your commitment. We really worked together regardless of position. You guys are the best.

Even as i type this, i am reminded of all the "same kind of posts" that the seniors posted in 2007(on the verge of tears man....) and next year, you guys will know what i mean. haha

And well. My last post in Deyi SLC. from today onwards, you will never see my name here. So let me make it big. (oh well excos you all can post if you want)

Hi I am back!

hahaha i agree that it has been a long time since anyone blogged at this blog, so i shall revive it :D
Anyways, it doesn't mean that only when we have some event then we have to post on this blog what, we can do it anytime! ( gosh suddenly so high )

By the way, we had an EXCO meeting today and just for you to know, we are going to have a SC MEETING( stand up and cheer people ) and its after the exams :D so no worries. SEC 4s! we are going to have a meeting too! haha 11 May for the sec4s and 8 May for Council Meeting if i remembered correctly.

Oh well, come to think of it, my time in the council is almost up ( i know you are going to stand up and cheer coz i will be gone XD but pls bear with me a little longer :P ). Like it or not, i've really been through a lot, learnt a lot, and grown up more too. Throughout this time, i learnt that we don't have to be recognised for what we do because it would be meaningless isn't it? I can boldly admit that sometimes, even us excos have moments of "feeling like giving up", including me. In fact, i do succumb to some negative things that people do say.

Well people, i am not kidding but everyone has a moment like that, and i am not exception. But what makes us leaders different from the others is that we don't care about what others think of us. We just do what we believe that is right and make it our lifestyle.

Sometimes i can relate to the feeling you have of being in council, like " what am i doing here?", "it is just stagnant here". I believe everyone including the seniors have this kind of thoughts too.

But guys, i just want you all to know one thing: The answer to remove stagnancy is passion. Just be driven by what you come to the council for and work towards it without giving up. Yes it is tough, but as long as you have determination, you can make it. Yes we lose our passion sometimes because of distractions, but if we get on to it, the passion will return. It doesn't have to be seen by others. Just know within you that you are doing something for your school, that is enough. DON"T SEEK FOR RECOGNITION. you will just feel more empty. Don't let anything other people say affect you too. Humans err and mistakes are your teachers. Don't lose your passion because of what others think of you yeah? :D

i do hope that you guys will understand that being a leader, doesnt only mean that you lead and serve, be discipline and fulfilling expectations, it meant being responsible, responsible to the school, to the council and to yourself, your own actions. well, thats my point view.

Hey Student Councillors!

As the actual date of the investiture draw nearer by seconds, minutes, hours and days,
I would really like to take some time to appreciate all that you guys have done in the council board and also, to congratulate the about-to-be-invested-peeps.

I don't know about you, but I can still vaguely remember why I actually wanted to join the board in the past.

I really liked the council tie and those senior councillors who walk pass me always give me the 'i-am-cool' impression. I was really fascinated by the thought of becoming one them some day. But of course, when I've was able to join in, it wasn't all about being cool and all.

I often find myself caught up with thoughts like ohmygosh* she complained about my socks length and skirt length again.

Believe it or not, I used to be as notorious.
But as i began to get more accustomed to the rules and attend more meetings and activities regarding council, it just felt like I am part of it and everything.
It felt like I was a part of a family.

I don't know about teachers, I don't know about how much to do or not to do the council, but I know that I am serving my school and my schoolmates.

Don't be discouraged by what you've given, when you've given with what you do not expect. Don't be disappointed when you're not credited, you do not need credits. Let your role be one that's out of will and not out of greed.

Let us not care how much we are able to do but let us focus on what we are willing to do. The council do not need capable people, we need willing people.

May your journey in this 4-5 years of school life be fruitful.

Don't be driven by positions, people, attention or respect.
Be driven by character.

Heys newly invested leaders, congratulations.
I certainly see much potential in you guys. :)

Don't let how much you can do for the board be restricted by how
new you're in the board.
Be bold, just do it.

4.30pm-5.00pm- Refreshments Cum Sharing Session

This is the order of events up to now and its currently still accurate. Therefore DO be sure of the sequence so that you won't get lost.

Also, i HOPE you guys are already ok with walk-ins and performances and all alr k? I mean we only have about less than 2 weeks and Seniors you guys should know how important an investiture is, so we old birds to be would really like to see some commitment here alright?
The seniors and EXCOs have put in a lot of hard work and effort to make this invest. a success, so do encourage them whenever they can ( they are also very stressed you know, they have "O" lvls, even Adeline also stress until she went bonkers and cut mushroom hair XD). Jordon and Tammy did everything they can to ensure that the walk-in for everyone works out, and your VPs and darylene have been trying their best to oversee all the logistics so that hiccups will be minimised, so please thank them for their hard work ok?

COMBINED REHEARSAL:

*** Sec 4s, please attend your remedials first and report to hall at 3.30
*** All CCAs are excused except for performing arts

The design of sl tee is sent for printing already. the cost price is $13 per tee. Each leader only need to pay $10. please pay to Shamien. And potential leaders, please pay the money for your badge to Shamien as well.

For our investiture, we will be inviting 36 schools, CEC members, CCA leaders, 5 sec1 per class and each leaders are allowed to invited 2 of their friends. ( the 5 sec1 students and 2 of ur friends will be given tickets and they are to show their tickets to the receptionists. Also ask them to bring tie.)

The Theme for our investiture is no longer HIGHER but SET SAIL! and our GOH is MR. MARTIN from Halogen foundation.

The EMCEES are Donavon, and Kasturi with SITI as reserve! please do up the script by 24th MARCH 2009 and summit to either Benjamin, wen zhen or winarti. More detailed information will be passed down in future meeting. Also if need help with the script, please approach Tammy or Jordon. ( go look for them if not they will just pretend you guys dun need help:D )

First of all, glad to see improvements in all of your performance

hehey....welcome back people....how was camp??( i enjoyed the first 2 days of the course but the last day was a worst camp i had ever attended. hahas..

wen zhen and i had discussion with mr kevin lim, and we came to a date where it's coming pretty soon. ( will tell u once it's really approved by all teachers.) we have about only 3 weeks left.

so, how's the rehearsal for sec 2s and 3s?? ( hope it's gg pretty well huh?) as for sec 4s, we have done about 80% of our dance. just need some polishing.

hihi, c'mon, let's give our dear president ( Benjamin ) a break. He has not been feeling well yet, we give him so much stress. I totally agree with Benjamin about the meaning of " STUDENT COUNCIL" like Benjamin had mentioned before during the SLC Orientation on the 18 of November 2008, ( if u guys still remember). Student Leaders is not uniformed group or school patrol troops who discipline their fellow students by giving physical punishments ( it will be given ONLY IF necessary). We are leaders who lead by being a role model. so, IF you guys join the SLC just because it looks cool to wear tie and badge, i agree with benjamin, we dont mind you quit now.

As for recess duty, Leon, Keric, and Ilin, thanks for voicing out the problems faced by you guys. For the issues of them not listening to you, i will talk to mdm normila tml and see what we can do. and for patroling, just ask them nicely to go to canteen but if recess is going to be over in abt 5 mins time, just let them stay in their respective classes. :P

I would really like to thank the other 2 presidents, ( wen zhen and Benjamin), the Excos, ( Darylene, Ian, Fazlindah, Adeline, Karen, Shamien) and lastly Alvin Phua for helping out in Total defence Day ushering. you guys had done a really great job and received fire extinguisher as a gift.:P keep up the good work. Also, Thank you so much Sec 3 Leaders for telling us our ( the sec 4s including the excos and presidents) mistakes. We are trying hard to change and hope you do see some improvements from us.

On Wed, 180209, our school is hosting an event, those who are involved, please be punctual and be in proper attire. Thank you so much for staying back on Tues 1708909 for the long rehearsal.

our investiture is coming,so hope the rehearsal for the performance is going really well. so please be prepared to be asked to stay back for meetings.

lastly, thanks for those people who has been constantly involve and helping out with school events. btw guys, all initiative projects are welcomed but please discuss it with the excos and presidents first before you involve the members ( also, a PROPER proposal is required).

Hi guys,

I am not here to scold or lecture anyone, but i would like to give my views about it.

firstly,this is really very lame(but quite funny)You guys are all quarrelling over ENGLISH? are you kidding me? for your information, this is the SLC blog, not the ENGLISH DEPARTMENT BLOG. Yes i know that the posts here are not grammatically correct, and that is because we want to connect with you all using the local lingo, and since we are singaporeans, i don't find it unusual that we use shortcuts in our cyber language. Do give us leeway over this issue. After all, like what mrs Ang says, our batch's english is not good. maybe next time when your batch takes over, you can implement the "speak good english and type good english" initiative in our school and you spearhead by using perfect queen's english on this blog. isn't that better? hahaha

secondly, please do not use the tagbox to flame people here and there because this is really not the purpose for it. the purpose of this tagbox is to share messages and other misc. stuff, and if you guys want to comment about something very "bo liao", just go somewhere else and let go. You people are not the only jokers who read this blog. There are other Deyians who read this blog too, so mind your internet behaviour.

thirdly, since this question is raised, i want to set the definition clearly for the term "STUDENT LEADER". Student Leaders, or what we call SLs, to put it simply, are just leaders. We lead in terms of school discipline(attire, behaviour,etc),in bringing the school through different events(organising, ushering, boosting morale, etc), and most of all, doing the right thing at the worst times. Yes we are people who wear a tie and a badge everyday, but i hope you guys will understand that it is beyond that. If you think council is all about wearing a tie and a badge, i encourage you to quit and leave the council. You shouldn't even be a councillor at all.I know you friends have said things like: SLs all do "sai kang" and all this. And i don't deny that, but tell me, are there any leaders who never had to do dirty jobs? If you can't even stand this kind of duties, trust me, there isn't a place for you in the leadership sector in your career. Carry on being a slacker and get a low pay. bottomline: we are student councillors because we want to see wrong being turned right in our school, and we want to do what is right.

But relax guys, like i said, my purpose is not to pinpoint anyone. This post goes out to everyone. I wouldn't say who is right or wrong( why waste your time on this anyway -_-") but all i will say is to mind your tongue :) let's not see anything like this happen again.

Well, today we celebrated the TOTAL DEFENCE DAY (16.02.09), the distinguish guests and GOH were there too.

Most of all, i would like to thank those who were involved and made today's programme a success..especially the Presidents, Benjamin, Winarti and Wen Zhen! hey guys! miss me? i'm sort of guessing you guys said yes there, so... yeah. anyway, its great here where i am. the school is great. this level of competency within the studentbody and the staff is at a level that, no offense, can never be reached in deyi. in fact the student council here is made up of less than 10 people they mostly do behind the scene work. oh and one more thing, I HAVE NO UNIFORM! shirt and jeans to school! oh and what i'm about to say is going to be said in my irritating noisy loudest voice, for those of you who can imagine. 1. Valentine's Project

· please note that this project would no longer be based on valentines day
· all the profit earn will be donated to 'Child at Street' so its gonna be a fund raising project
· if you're wondering why, remember the YLDC we did not long ago? 1 group went for SPCA, the other 2 didn't go anywhere, so we shall take this opportunity to complete the YLDC project
· we will be collecting orders on Tuesday[which is tomorrow] and Wednesday, the 3 sec 2s and sec 3s who volunteered themselves this morning, please meet me after morning assembly for briefing as well as the collection of logistics
· the actual baking date will be on Thursday, after school. Either in food lap1 or 2. Those who have nothing on, we are expecting all SCs to help out

ok very sorry about the council meeting thing because this week all of us are very busy so we just have to postpone it to 3rd Feb. Is everyone ok with that other than the band people? Hi people, this is just going to be a couple of annoucements and a little bit of prep talk, so we will be cool yea?

1. Council meeting
Remember i said it will be from 19-23 Jan? i am going to set it on tuesday tentatively, if many people cannot make it then we will change to another day. I know the band members cannot make it so i will tell you guys what is happening alright?

2. Potential Leaders interview.
take note that Monday's slot is cancelled. so it will only be on wednesday. we will tell you guys more on monday, but no matter if you are potential or volunteer leader, please wear your school tie into the interview room.

3. Pres. Meeting.
My dear 2 Presidents, do tell me when you guys are free. We haven't met in ages. hopefully before Jan ends.

4. Writing Lines

this morning i told you all to write lines because there are people who did not sing the national anthem.Why did i ask you guys to do something that is a total waste of time, waste of paper, waste of ink, and make your hands suffer? we know that you guys also have homework and projects and millions of things to do, but we want you to know that every single thing that you do has a consequence on everyone else. Today it is one person that caused the whole council to be punished, and excos get double somemore. I don't find it worthwhile either. the sec 4s have their studies too, So that is why all the more we should just jolly well do what we are supposed to do so this this won't happen again. I can choose not to bother about this and carry on with life, but if you want the school to respect the council, we have to do what is right (i.e the national anthem). The foreigners who don't have to sing the national anthem, i am sorry, but we are a "one for all, all for one" council. so make sure your fellow SCs sing the anthem. I rather you hate me for the rest of my term than allow the council to be ridiculed.

Anyways that aside, i will extend the time for you to write, and don't be shocked when you see the date. 7 August 2009. Don't ask me why. i am giving you 5 to 6 months worth of time to write lines.
